Why study this programme?

Logistics management – is one of the most demanded professions in Lithuania, because in each larger company you can find a separate department where a logistics manager is needed. On average, about 10 companies apply to our higher education institution for student internships and recruitment per semester. Information management programmes of logistics systems are used in the study process, 25% volume of studies is allocated for internships, 80% of subjects are directly related to the specialty. Graduates work as logistics managers in such companies as: AB DFDS SEAWAYS, AB Lietuvos Geležinkeliai, AB Klaipėdos Nafta, UAB VPA Logistics, Yazaki Wiring Technologies Lietuva, UAB Vlantana, UAB Autoaibė and others. Graduates can build their own businesses.

Study environment

A number of logistics management information system programmes are used in the study process; 48 per cent of the study credits are allocated to practical training; 80 per cent of the study subjects are directly related to the profession and modern and innovative study methods used in the programme.

Career

Having completed this study programme, the graduates will be able to work as logistics managers in various Lithuanian and international organizations including trade, manufacturing, warehousing, railway, sea, road, and air transport, forwarding and other logistic services providers.

Goal of the program

Prepare a highly qualified manager capable of managing processes and activities related to customer service, transportation, warehousing, reserve management, logistics cooperation.

Study results

Graduate:
1. Knows the laws of economics, directions of managerial activity, and management functions.
2. Understands the management of material, information and financial flows, management of logistics technological processes, and the legal regulation of the activities of companies.
3. Collects and analyzes data necessary for researching the supply and consumption market, determining the demand for logistics services, and optimizing the number of parts of the supply chain, the amount of inventory, and storage and transportation costs.
4. Manages the logistical processes (material, information, financial flows, transportation, and storage) and work operations by independently selecting technological, organizational and methodical tools.
5. Organizes and conducts the company’s activities taking into consideration the type of activity, environmental conditions, and labour, civil and environmental safety requirements.
6. Uses relevant tools to assure the control of logistical activities, and evaluates the results, and the quality of provided services.
7. Communicates with the company’s specialists, coworkers, subordinates, Lithuanian and overseas partners and customers; prepares and provides the necessary information, constructively assesses the situation and applies effective solutions.
8. Takes responsibility for the quality of their own performance and that of their subordinates in compliance with professional ethics and public spirit.
9. Learns independently, takes and implements decisions following the principles of leadership and cooperation.
10. Is aware of their role in the system of the company’s logistical activities and takes moral responsibility for the impact of the results on the economic wellbeing of society and the environment.
