The third largest in Lithuania – Klaipeda State University of Applied Sciences (KVK) – was chosen this year by a record number of entrants. A total of 1,066 contracts were signed with future freshmen. All three Faculties enrolled almost even number of freshmen.
“We are proud that those who want to study trust our higher education institution. We are glad that we are implementing one of our strategic goals – to attract young people to the Klaipeda region from other cities, ”said Gražina Markvaldienė, Director of KVK.
More than a third of freshmen (37%) received state-funded places in KVK. 43 students who have chosen studies in the field of pedagogy will receive a monthly state-grant of 300 EUR. Incentive scholarships of the amount of 200 EUR will be granted to 53 entrants to the study programmes of Informatics, Engineering and Technology study fields.
The most popular study programmes this year are General Practice Nursing, Logistics Management, Physiotherapy and Civil Engineering. The study programme of pedagogical field – Pre-school and Pre-primary school pedagogy – received a record flow, therefore KVK will have an opportunity to firmly continue the centuries-old tradition of teacher training (the origins of KVK are considered to be 1902, when the Klaipeda Teachers’ Seminary was established).
“I chose to study Physiotherapy because I am very energetic and like movement. Also, I have an inner need to help people. Klaipeda is a city with wide opportunities, after graduation it will be easy to find a job, ” said Liucilė Stanienė from Plungė, who became the 1000th freshman to sign a study agreement with KVK this year.
The geography of entrants to KVK has shifted slightly to the East and covers not only the exclusively Western region of Lithuania, as it has been so far. Four students, among those who chose to study at KVK, scored 100 points each during state exams.
Lectures for freshmen began on the 14th September.
