This project was initiated by the “Sustainable and Innovative Tourism Network of Nordic and Baltic Countries” (NordTourNet) and has the abbreviation NordTourNet-4.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science by which we can create intelligent machines which can behave, think and make decisions like humans. With AI technologies you do not need to pre-program a machine to do some work, despite that you can create a machine
with programmed algorithms that can work with own intelligence. Over the years, the influence of AI has spread to nearly every aspect of the tourism industry. For example, 30% of hospitality companies are using AI to improve their sales processes, websites, and product personalization.
By implementing the previous Nordplus Adult project NordTourNet-3, partnership discovered that IT has changed tourism organizations and highlighted generational differences: newer NPAD-2022/10078 generations are more knowledgeable and skilled in digital technologies. Meanwhile, older generations are less proficient in IT.
For the above reasons, the beneficiaries of the project are remote workers and entrepreneurs, operating in the tourism sector, aged 50+, because it is important to train them to master AI tools and to use those tools creatively in their activities in order to be competitive in the tourism market.
All project material will be available on the website of the network www.nordtournet.com.
Goal
The overall aim of the project is to explore artificial intelligence-powered tools for the tourism sector, to provide adult educators with methodological material and recommendations on how to foster the creativity of tourism workers and entrepreneurs aged 50+ in remote areas through AI solutions, and to encourage them to develop new services or products based on artificial intelligence technologies.
Results and outcomes
1. Situation Analysis based on qualitative research. The aim is to collect experience (in written form and video format) of the use of AI powered tools in tourism companies.
2. Creativity Camp in each partner country for 8 tourism employees and/or entrepreneurs, aged 50+ and working in remote areas.
3. Methodological material with Recommendations for Adult Educators and Tourism Professionals in video format with animation.
4. The Final Virtual Conference of the project.
