14th International Week at KVK

It was great pleasure to host 14th International Week in Klaipeda State University of Applied Sciences (KVK), which took place on 19-22 April. Although the meetings and seminars were organized remotely, we also received physical guests from Poland Universities. Over 40 participants from foreign Universities and companies registered and joined various workshops and activities.

On the first day, a presentation of Lithuania and KVK was organized, the guests were greeted by the director Gražina Markvaldienė, and the participating universities had the opportunity to present themselves during the International Study Fair. The afternoon session included roundtable workshops with foreign partners and students on how to promote higher education institution during the pandemic, what are the biggest challenges of being an Erasmus student and how to increase their participation in the programme.

On the following days, presentations of three faculties took place. During them, Business Faculty organized a virtual exhibition of faculty, organized a quiz. Meanwhile, the Technologies Faculty offered a workshop “Lithuanian Dishes for Today’s Menu” and organized an interactive quiz with gifts. Health Sciences Faculty presented videos about student internships performed in KVK and partner companies, hospitals. Innovative medical projects carried out by the faculty were also presented.

Various international lectures were organized during the week. Open lectures were given by KVK lecturers: “Win-win partnerships in marketing: one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” (Dr. Donatas Jonikas), “Electromobility Perspectives in Lithuania” (Dr. Ričardas Malkus) and “Capacity building: healthy body” (Lect. Daiva Lenčiauskienė), which was open to all participants. At that time, KVK students had wonderful lectures with incoming professors who organized lectures remotely and physically. Dr. Sergii Iaromenko from Ukraine introduced students to tourism activities and resources in Ukraine. Dorota Bylina and Angieszka Michalska from State College of Applied Sciences in Skierniewice, Poland gave lectures to Physiotherapy students. Pedagogy students had practical lectures of Jaroslaw Soltan, and Beauty Therapy and Physiotherapy students – of Leszek Zakrzewski’s lectures, University of Humanities and Economics in Lodz, Poland. Moreover, students of Accounting and Finance had great opportunity to gain practical experience from lectures of a company representative Izabella Sierpatowska, JLDA Ltd., Poland.

A virtual excursion of Klaipeda Old Town was organized by KVK lecturer, professional guide Agnė Abramovičienė, which allowed guests to take a virtual walk through the streets of the old town. Physically arrived guests had opportunity to attend the tour to Nida, Curonian Spit, which is on UNESCO World Heritage list.

We look forward to the next 15th International Week, to be held on 20-24 September 2021.
